Support StaffIn addition to our physicians, NWOCC employs a professional support staff that offers a broad range of care and assistance. The support staff includes: Midlevel Providers - Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants Should you ever require hospitalization, you're likely to meet one of our midlevel providers. These educated professionals help NWOCC's physicians with daily hospital rounds at The Toledo Hospital. Besides being available for medical education, they assist the physicians by gathering medical information regarding your care and coordinating your pre-operative and discharge planning. Nurse Practitioners
Nurse Practitioners are a Master's prepared RN who diagnoses and manages acute and chronic illnesses. The Nurse Practioner focuses on health promotion and prevention, education and counseling to promote health and wellness. Physician Assistants
Physician Assistants (PAs) are health professionals, prepared to practice medicine with physician supervision. Within the physician/PA relationship, Physician Assistants exercise autonomy in decision-making and provide a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic services.
Nurses Our cardiac educated, registered and licensed practical nurses coordinate your office visit and provide you with education about your disease. All registered nurses are ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certified. Cardiovascular Technicians Should your physician deem testing is necessary, we have specially trained technicians available for echos, stress echos, EKGs, exercise tests, event recorders and holter monitors. Nuclear Technologists If your physician orders a Nuclear Cardiolite treadmill test, you'll meet one of our Nuclear Technologists. Nuclear Technologists perform a variation of a routine treadmill test by injecting a radioactive substance, called cardiolite, into a patient's system while he/she exercises. This diagnostic test provides your cardiologists with detailed information about the flow of blood to your heart and your response to exercise. |
